There are two options – NX CAE or NX Nastran – available for your product analysis requirements. NX™ for Simulation utilises the market leading simulation tool Nastran solver – originally developed by NASA – to bring finite element analysis (FEA) to a designer level. This serves to relieve possible bottlenecks by removing the need to allocate work to analysts and structural engineers, helping save you time.

Then easily document results of this validation with fully customisable templates for consistency and quality. NX™ Nastran® – Basic is the core subset of NX Nastran software and includes a robust suite of linear statics, normal modes, buckling analyses, heat transfer and basic non-linear capabilities. NX Nastran – Basic can play a key role in your virtual product development process by providing the most widely used CAE solutions for digital prototyping and simulation of product functional performance.

NX Nastran solves most structural analysis problems for linear and non-linear analysis, dynamics, acoustics, rotor dynamics, aeroelasticity and optimisation. This simplifies your task because input/output file formats are the same for all solution types.
Two distinct parallel processing capabilities are offered by NX Nastran; shared memory parallel processing (SMP) and distributed memory processing (DMP). SMP is the preferred technology for either multiprocessor nodes with shared memory or processor nodes with multiple cores. While DMP can provide much higher levels of scalability for major computational challenges such as large system-level static and dynamic analyses.
NX Nastran includes unique features such as simplified component connectivity, superelements to simplify complex FE modeling, automatic dependency conflict resolution, and direct interfaces to multibody dynamics (MBD) solutions.
NX Nastran is able to tackle a variety of advanced applications, such as composites analysis in the aerospace industry, NVH (noise, vibration and harshness) problems in the automotive industry, complex coupled thermo-structural problems in electronics, and a number of other industries.
The option to write your own applications and add add your own custom analysis modules with the direct matrix abstraction program (DMAP) is available to you in NX Nastran. You can also combine third-party solvers for coupled analysis.
